FIFTH INTERNATIONAL LUPINE CONFERENCE
International conferences for lupines are organized by the
International Lupine Association (ILA) founded in 1980. Seat of
the General Secretariat is Cordoba, Spain: Avda. Memendez Pidal,
s/n, Apartado .3048. ILA comprises members from different crop
sciences, i.e. breeders, geneticists, biochemists, and physiolo-
gists, as well as seed producers and lupine users.
International lupine conferences are organized every two
years in different countries where this valuable, high protein
crop is cultivated and is economically important. Earlier con-
ferences were held in Lima, Peru (1980), Terremolinos, Spain
(1982), La Rochelle, France (1984), and Geraldton, Australia
(1986). The proceedings were published by ILA. Also, the Lupin
Newsletter is issued by the General Secretariat of ILA (in English
and Spanish versions).
The President-elect of the ILA is Dr. Wiktor Swiecicki,
Director of the Poznan Plant Breeding Station.
The fifth International Lupine Conference will be held in
July 1988 in Poznan, Poland. Six sessions (invited papers and
posters) are planned: gene resources, genetics and plant breeding,
lupine agronomy, lupine diseases, plant physiology and biochemis-
try, nutrition and food technology. The program also will include
excursions to breeding stations and farms. Further details are
available from the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee, 5th
ILC, Poznan, Noskowskiego 12, Poland, and will be published in
Lupin Newsletter.
