NEW VARIETIES

Wlodarczyk, A. Garden Plant Breeding Enterprise, Warsaw, Poland

'NIKE' - mutant from variety 'Delikates'. Length of stem 95-120 cm.

Late, 15 nodes to flower, about 70 days to edible maturity. Pods 8-10

cm, slightly curved. Fresh seeds are dark green, 8-10 mm, with 390-440g

per thousand seeds (TGW). Dry, wrinkled seeds - 190g TGW. Suitable for

freezing and canning. Resistant to BYMV.

'JAREK' - From cross of 'Kronnenerbse 756/60' x 'Delisa II'. Fasciated.

Stem length 60-65 cm. Pods straight to slightly curved, 6-7 mm. Fresh

and dry seeds green. TGW of dry seeds 195g. Sixty-two days to edible

maturity. Uniform ripening. Resistant to BYMV.

'RARYTAS' - From 'Beta' x 'Deli' cross. Dense plant habit, short stem

(55-70 cm). Pods slightly curved, ripen simultaneously. Seeds are dark

green, 7-8 per pod. TGW of fresh seeds - 310-330g. Dry, wrinkled seeds

are yellowish green with 170-190g TGW. Sixty-two days to maturity.

Suitable for freezing and canning. Resistant to BYMV.

'METEOR' - From 'Delisa' x 'Eispearl' cross. Length of stem 65-75 cm.

Long pods (9 cm), two per peduncle. Seeds dark green, 8-10 per pod, 7.5

mm in diameter. Fifty-seven days to edible maturity.

'IWETA' - From 'Delisa II' x 'Gloriosa*. Stem length 60-70 cm. Pods 8

cm long, two per peduncle. Seeds are dark green, 7-8 per pod, 7-7.3 mm

in diameter. Sixty days to maturity.

NEW CULTIVARS - DRY PEAS

'ASTER' - From cross of 'Flavanda' x 'Auralia'. Stem of medium length,

with 16-20 internodes. First pods form on nodes 10-12. Pod length

about 6.5 cm. Smooth, yellow seeds, TGW 280g. Improved resistance to

lodging. Length of vegetation period comparable to Polish standard

variety 'Opal'. High yielding.
